You’ll need the following things to make a soy candle:

• Glass bowls
• Soy wax flakes
• Saucepan
• Thermometer
• Wooden spoon
• Wick
• Glass jar

Steps of making soy wax candles:

Melt the wax:

The first step in candle making is to melt the soy flakes. You can take a glass jar, fill it with soy flakes, and put it in a pan 3/4th full water. It will create a double boiler, making it easy for you to burn the wax.

Add Fragrance:

When the wax gets a bit cool, you need to add fragrance to it. Ideally, the temperature of the water should be 120 degrees when adding the scent. An ounce of fragrance (typically 5-10 drops) will be enough.

Add Wick:

Cut the wick a few cm more than the length of the container. Put it in the jar and put a small amount of wax in the middle of the vessel so that the wick settles perfectly. You might need to hold it until the wax hardens.

Set the clothespin at the top of the container. So it handles the top end of the wick in a perfectly straight position.

Pour the remaining wax:

Make sure that the wax you are pouring in the container is smooth. For that, you can stir the wax to maintain the smoothness and gradually pour it into the vessel.

Do not fill up your container until the very edge. Leave some space in it. If you have extra wax left, you can let it cool and use it when you make your next batch of candles.

Let your candle harden:

Let your candle harden to give it the right firm shape. Leave it overnight, and it will get into the right shape on its own.

Trim the extra wick and decorate:

When your candle has hardened and got in the right shape, now trim the extra wax and decorate your candle jar as you like.
